Chrome Extension Privacy Policy ("Azometer – Amazon tools")

Scope

This section applies to our Chrome extension available in the Chrome Web Store under the name “Azometer – Amazon tools.” It covers data handling when you use the extension within your browser.

What the extension does

The extension enhances your experience on supported Amazon pages by analyzing page content locally in your browser and, if you choose, exporting selected data (e.g., CSV/Excel) to files you save on your device.

Data collection and processing

  • No collection or transmission: We do not collect, transmit, or sell personal information from the extension.
  • Local processing only: Page content is parsed in memory within your browser to provide features you invoke. We do not operate servers for the extension’s in-browser features.
  • User-initiated exports: If you export data, files are saved by you to your device. We do not receive copies.

Data the extension reads on Amazon pages

The extension reads only the current page’s content on Amazon domains to render insights you request. Examples include:

  • Product page elements such as ASIN, seller/merchant ID and name, FBA flag, Best Sellers Rank (BSR) values and category links, listing start date, and links to offers.
  • Search/browse pages: ASINs of listed products to fetch publicly visible snippets for display.
  • Seller Central (when you are signed in): advertising search terms performance metrics (impressions, clicks, CTR, spend, CPC, orders, sales, ACOS, ROAS, conversion rate) and negative keywords via Amazon’s in-site APIs you already have access to.

Network activity performed by the extension

  • Amazon endpoints: Requests are made to Amazon domains you are visiting to retrieve content or reports you can access while logged in (e.g., report generation and download in Seller Central). These requests use your existing session; we do not add tracking of our own.
  • Azometer configuration sync: The popup may query https://azometer.com/api/?action=syncExtension to pull extension configuration and account status. We do not send your Amazon page data to Azometer as part of this call. Standard network metadata (e.g., IP, user agent) may be received by our web server as with any HTTPS request.

Extension permissions and purpose limitation

  • storage: Save your extension preferences/settings locally in your browser.
  • Host access to Amazon domains: Read page content on Amazon sites you visit, solely to perform the features you invoke.

We request the minimum permissions necessary and use them only for user-facing functionality.

Cookies and local storage

  • The extension does not set cookies.
  • The extension may use local storage to remember settings. This data does not leave your device.

Data stored in Chrome storage (local to your browser)

The extension uses chrome.storage.sync to store preferences and optionally account/configuration values retrieved from Azometer so features can be enabled in the UI. Examples of keys include:

  • Feature toggles: azon_ext_active, view_product_asin, view_product_seller, view_product_bsr, view_product_bsr_subcategories, view_product_listing_start, view_product_stock, view_product_keepa, view_listing_keywords, view_sellercentral_ad_words_export.
  • Optional configuration: azon_ajax_uri, azon_ajax_domain, azon_ajax_post_data, azon_li_uri, azon_li_subdomain, azon_li_data (used only for on‑site Amazon requests you initiate).
  • Account indicator: a limited azon_account object (e.g., username, account active flag) used to reflect your Azometer subscription status in the popup. This is not transmitted to third parties and can be cleared at any time.

Scope: Data in chrome.storage.sync may sync across Chrome profiles signed into your Google account, per Chrome’s behavior. You may clear it via Chrome’s settings or by removing the extension.

Data retention and your controls

  • No cloud retention: extension processing occurs in-memory or in local storage.
  • You can clear local data any time via Chrome settings (Privacy and security → Clear browsing data → Hosted app data) or by removing/reinstalling the extension from chrome://extensions.

Children’s privacy

The extension is not directed to children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
